Beartown Farms supplies locally grown grass-fed lamb and beef direct to consumers. All our meat is USDA inspected, custom cut, vacuum wrapped, and flash frozen. The farms are currently home to 150 Angus and Devon cattle, and 700 St. Croix hair sheep. Owner, Gene LaMothe, was born and raised in Saratoga Springs, and is retired from the United States Air Force. His wife, Veronica, is a business professional who grew up in Seoul, Korea. The couple discussed where to settle after returning to the States from a work assignment in Korea. In 2003, they decided to purchase their retirement farmland in the North Country with the goal of practicing sustainable farming. Beartown Farms consists of three abandoned dairy farms between Antwerp and Oxbow. After a great amount of renovation, the deserted farms were revitalized and put back into full time production of grass-fed lamb, and beef. Drivers and residents have praised the significant improvements made to the property and enjoy the picturesque scenery of the beautiful farmland. The newest addition to this property is a roadside stand, where people can buy meat direct from the farm.
