Almedan Produce

Welcome to Almedan Produce.  Here we do things a bit differently.  We specialize in high tunnel growing of vegetables.  Our structures, sometimes called plastic greenhouses, field houses or cold frames, are filled with tomatoes, onion, radishes, okra, melons and peppers.  Although our process is all-natural, soil grown plants, we control the climate inside the tunnel to provide a longer growing season.  We are beginning to see more of these structures pop up across the North Country as more people discover the benefits of high tunnel production.  By extending the growing season, high tunnel production also allows consumers to purchase locally grown produce for an extended period of time.

Our newest tunnel is for fall raspberry growing.  We are working closely with Cornell Cooperative Extension on this project to show new ways of growing fruits in this region.

Owner Almeda Grandjean loves to talk about this growing process and has a lot of advice to offer anyone who may wish to enjoy tunnel growing.  Please give her a call at 315-767-4742 to arrange a time for a visit.  During harvest season, you can find vegetables grown within the tunnels in addition to other crop vegetables available for sale at the farm.  Sweet corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, beans, peppers, and squash are a few of our specialties.
